The world’s coolest music festival and party is set to rock Reykjavik for five days from 14 – 18 October.
At Confidential we’re having a bit of an Iceland season as the editor’s off to bother Reykjavik, break into the food scene, travel north to see the Northern Lights and generally mess things up.
What he’ll miss out on is Iceland Airwaves 2010. This was once tagged with the title “the hippest long weekend on the annual music festival calendar” by David Fricke of Rolling Stone.
Airwaves celebrates its 12th year of cutting edge acts and general debauchery in and amongst the eclectic and intimate venues of Reykjavik’s charming city centre. This year’s festival features more than 100 acts from Iceland, the UK, Scandinavia and North America including: Robyn, Hurts, Bombay Bicycle Club, Moderat, Dikta and Lay Low.
The good news is that the exchange rate at this moment is as favourable as it's ever been. You could also combine the visit with distinctive shopping in the capital, bar-hopping and excursions to Iceland’s twisted volcanic landscape in one of the oddest and exciting terrains on earth. All of which you can read about in Jonathan Schofield’s report before you go.
RobynFestival-goers can save by booking the Iceland Airwaves package with Icelandair which includes flights from Manchester to Iceland, 2 nights hotel accommodation and Airwaves Festival pass from £329. Those who wish to secure their own accommodations can book flights and an Airwaves Festival pass from £281.
