Holidays in Sicily – luxury and beauty in one

If you are looking for a holiday in a luxurious destination, look no further than the Italian island of Sicily. Full to the brim with both natural and architectural beauty, Sicily has been the first choice for many discerning holidaymakers for years.

Stunning beaches

Holidays in Sicily are a great choice for beach lovers. Sicily has some fabulous beaches – think soft, sun-drenched sand and beautiful clear waters. Mazzaro and Cefalu near the fabulous resort of Taormina are two excellent beaches. Whether you choose to simply snooze the hours away on the sand or get a little more active out in the sea is up to you – Sicily's coastline is spectacular and well worth exploring by boat or even while waterskiing.

Volcanos and ancient ruins

If sightseeing on dry land is more your thing, you will be truly spoilt for choice in Sicily. The island's rich and diverse cultural heritage makes for some excellent and fascinating sightseeing opportunities.

Sicily has been under the rule of many different powers – the Romans have left their mark, as have the Greeks, the Byzantines and the Arabs. Visit Syracusa on the east coast of the island, home to some incredible ancient Greek ruins that date back to sixth century BC.

Meanwhile, the island's capital, Palerma, offers some intriguing medieval architecture and imposing Baroque churches.

Another popular sightseeing trip while on holiday in Sicily is to pay a visit to Mount Etna – famous for being the highest active volcano in Europe.

Sicily is home to some fabulous and stylish little boutiques – Palermo in particular has some excellent shopping opportunities.
