LOUD Leeds is looking for all musicians in the city to pack the town hall for a huge jam session on Saturday 2 April, from 12.30pm – 5.30pm.
Participants can play anything from a harmonica to a double-bass and beginners are also welcome to join in the mass performance of classics by Curtis Mayfield and the Beach Boys.
Leeds Music Centres are also offering a massive music lesson giveaway as part of the council organised event, with anyone taking part being given two music lessons free of charge at their local music centres.
Frances Bernstein, music co-ordinator for Leeds City Council, said:“As long as you bring your own instrument and can play it - or just want to come and sing - Loud Leeds wants you.
“It will be hands on fun from a mass warm-up at the beginning, to a huge finale performance at the end.
“Playing and singing stunning music in the Town Hall with hundreds of other people led by top professionals will be a truly memorable experience and not to be missed.”
A mixture of songs will be performed including Elgar’s Land Of Hope and Glory and Beethoven’s Ode to Joy as well as Curtis Mayfield’s Move On Up and Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys.
The sheet music for each piece will be available to download before the event, with versions for advanced and learners.
Loud Leeds is being hosted by Leeds music centres and Opera North. Leeds music centres are run by ArtForms - Leeds City Council’s education music and arts service.
Children under 12-years-old must have a parent or carer with them who are also welcome to join in the fun. Book places now at www.loudleeds.co.uk or call 0113 2304074.
