MINT Hotel has just launched a Star Chef Competition, designed to showcase the talent of their junior level chefs in their signature City Café restaurants. And the prize includes the chance to show off their skills at two Michelin-starred restaurant Hibiscus.
Heats will take place in each of the eight Mint hotels around the country, including Mint Hotel Leeds in Granary Wharf.
The competition is open to demi chefs de partie and commis chefs within each of the hotels, with the first round and regional heats running throughout August.
The three overall highest point scorers from the cook-off heats will then enter a final dinner heat on Thursday 8 September at Mint Hotel Tower of London, when a winner will be announced.
Mint Hotel's group executive chef, Scott MacDonald, will judge all heats in the competition, alongside a local food hero and each hotel's general manager.
The lucky winner will receive a five-day stage at Hibiscus, the two Michelin-starred restaurant in Mayfair. They will also receive a commemorative Villeroy and Boch plate. And their winning dish will feature on the autumn menu of Mint’s signature restaurant, City Café.
“The prize up for grabs is fantastic,” says Scott Macdonald.
“The competition is a great opportunity to showcase the uncompromising, memorable service of the talented young chefs. Locally-sourced ingredients and seasonal produce will also be on offer to sample at each event.”
