Hotels and venues across the city are heating up their frying pans for the Leeds Loves Food festival

WHICH hotel has the best sausage in Leeds?

The city's venues are preparing for battle as part of the Leeds Loves Food festival.

It's a quest for top quality local bangers and the fry off kick started this month, allowing guests at participating hotels and venues across the city to rate their favourite sausages.

Now in its second year, the competition is on a quest to find sensational sausages - whether it be organic, home-made, spicy, locally-sourced, small, big sausage or just plain, old-fashioned tasty

Voting cards are available now at participating Leeds hotels and venues: Weetwood Hall Conference Centre & Hotel, 42 The Calls, The Met Hotel Leeds, Chevin Country Park Hotel & Spa, IBIS, Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa.

But you need to get a move on to give your banger a boost as voting finishes on Friday 17 June as the competition heats up.

The top three of the biggest and best Leeds sausages will then be invited to the Sausage Cook-Off at the Leeds Loves Food Kitchen Theatre at Millennium Square on 1 July, with the first banger hitting the fat at midday.

“It was fantastic to win this award last year, and I will be there again to defend my Sausage title and hopefully fight off any competition,” says last year’s winner Paul Woodward, Head Chef from Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa.

“Sausages are great to cook and there are many creative varieties you can play around with. I have some great ideas up my sleeve this year, so the more creative and tastier the better my hotel’s chance will be!”

The Leeds Loves Food now in its sixth year runs from July 1-3 and is set to be the biggest ever. In addition to the annual program of activities, a vast Yorkshire food and drink show is coming to town. Held in Millennium Square, the show will bring in to the city, for the first time, over 100 stallholders from right across the UK.
